Welcome

Hemp is one of the newest alternatives in ecologically friendly, this plant provides the fibres that will create a new alternative for the creation of fabrics that, in time might even come to replace denim and other high-resistance fabrics that are now made of natural fibres that require so much caring that makes them expensive such as cotton.

Hemp plants are part of the Cannabis family, however, they are not the type of cannabis plant that people like to use to smoke and get high. Industrial hemp is the plant that is used for other industrial uses such as paper, biodegradable plastics and even some health food products.  There are different forms and procedures to extract the hemp fibres that are needed to make the fabric that is turning the whole world inside out.

In general, all hemp fibres are taken in the same way and manner through the extracting the inside of the plant’s stalk, where the resistant fibre is located; this fibre is called Bast.  Moreover, once extracted it will be processed according to each of the variables and turned into fabric or any other textile component.  Hemp fabrics generally will not be dyed since the “raw” colour that they have is one of their most attractive attributes.

Since Hemp is a relatively easy plant to grow it is one of the most attractive ideas to use as a fabric and a source of multitude of fibre-based woven materials such as ropes and even shoes.
